Well now there's a rating system. Users decide what's good or bad. If the rating is too low, the quote won't show up in the typing test.

I have a little cousin that sometimes uses this site and I wouldn't like to be reading one of the quotes that is on the site. That quote would be the one from Memento by Christopher Nolan, where there is a mention of venereal disease. Could that quote be removed please? Just to keep this a nice site that all of my family can use"

The typing test now has an easy mode where you don't have to fix the errors. A penalty of 1.5 seconds is added for each errors.

The sound state is now saved between sessions.

It would be nice if there was a volume control for the sound: it's too loud for me to leave enabled, yet too useful for me to go without.

On second thought, I need to walk back my statement. The sound causes the typing test to freeze... sometimes long enough for me to type ten or more characters before a mistake is registered. If I'm typing at full speed, the error sound seems to cause problems. It seems to work ok when I slow down.

I like the error sound feature. It helps you put the brakes on when you make a mistake.

New features: if you make a mistake, the game'll play an error sound.

I've also run into the bug that tinw4mail was reporting. I don't know the exact steps to reproduce it, but it seems to happen if I make a mistake either on the first keystroke or within the first two words. I haven't run into it in a while so I can't remember the exact circumstances.

Whenever I hit this bug, I was unable to continue the race. It would never let me back up enough to get back on track. It appeared that what I was typing got out of synch with what was being tracked so I'd back up to fix my mistake, but it would think I was already all the way at the beginning.

Is it possible to put in an option to see the list of players in lexicographic order? I see some of the same people on geekhack.org discussing the merits of this or that keyboard or switch, and knowing their WPM would be one more data point that would help readers decide how to parse those statements as an aggregate while making their own purchases. Searching for these folks' names in a long nonalpha list is tough.

it's unlikely it's coming from the recent update. My guess is this bug has been here for a long time. If you can find when exactly it happens, tell me and I'll fix it.

I've noticed that sometimes the site just bugs out, as I'll try to start a race, but the highlighting will just go back to the beginning of the text. Is this from you updating the site?
