Honestly, people all around me say that touch typing is one of the most important skills you should learn in regards to computer usage, and so my mother made me learn touch typing when I was around 10. I'd say it's been pretty helpful, since I can transfer my thoughts quickly without losing my train of thought. But I honestly kinda agree the second part of what people say: touch typing is only useful if you have an office job where you spend at least 5 hours a day in front of a computer. That's not really what I wanna do to be honest, so I guess touch typing is not really the most useful skill for me professionally.

Since there is a comment on assumption here, I will put one that's common at my uni. People think that touch typing is just a show-off with no actual benefit in professional work. Not sure how far that is true in gen corporate life..

My bad that I was unclear, place here just meant location. I am from India, and was curious about the backgrounds of all the various people here.

I'd love to tell you more, but I don't really understand what you mean by 'place'. Is it the motivation behind my interest in typing? Is it my goals for typing? Is it my assumptions and beliefs about typing? Good quote, but I just need some clarification.
