- Solemn Advice from my Mother's Grandmother
My mother once sat me down and looked me in my eyes with a sad strictness. She did what all parents do and gifted me with her life's advice, the same advice passed down to her by her grandmother. "If ever you are in an attempted kidnapping and are being threatened by a man to keep quiet, do not follow his command and fight until your last breath. I guarantee that where he would take you be far worse than death." I carry this with me in my life and so will my daughter's daughter.
