I'm really starting to wonder how Harry Potter spells and formal greetings in Dothraki or Klingon can help me improve my typing speed. Some of these quotes are beyond pointless.

While I agree that typing uncommon letter patterns improves typing skills, I also agree with the writer of this quote. In my opinion there are far too many pointless quotes on this site - I, personally, would prefer to read thought-provoking quotes. There's more than enough crappy quotes on this site - let's get some more intelligent quotes by intelligent authors on this site. Less garbage and more Kierkegaard, Vonnegut and Sartre please!

You'll always encounter uncommon patterns in your typing, the ability to translate these patterns to keys that you are breezing over - that is improves your typing abilities.

Indeed. If you want to fangirl about that mediocre series, do it somewhere else.

It'll help write patters that are not usual, which means you'll have a better understanding of the positions of the keys themselves. This is as important as internalizing common patterns, because it will teach you to move toward less used keys quickly and break the habits you form while typing common words.
