Elie Wiesel's Nobel Prize Speech of December 10, 1986 - Elie Wiesel

This quote was added by ravenwstone
We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. Sometimes we must interfere. When human lives are endangered, when human dignity is in jeopardy, national borders and sensitivities become irrelevant. Wherever men or women are persecuted because of their race, religion, or political views, that place must, at that moment, become the center of the universe.

Elie Wiesel is one of the most touching, brilliant, intellectual of speakers and writers I have ever had the pleasure of hearing and reading.

What a brilliant quote from a brilliant man. I would urge anyone not already familiar with Elie Wiesel's works to explore them - there are many great lessons on humanity to be gleaned within their pages
