Alphonse Elric - Equivalent Exchange - Hiromu Arakawa

This quote was added by wolfborg007
Humankind cannot obtain anything without first sacrificing something. In order to obtain anything something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's law of equivalent exchange. At the time we believed that to be the true way of the world.

And, of course, this is entirely untrue, unless one presumes that there is no intrinsic value in the creation of order from chaos.

It is self-evident, from the manifest experience of all economic systems, that the value of labor + the values of raw material < the values of the end product. Were this not the case, then no one would ever create and sell any product, for there would be nothing gained doing so.
