Celebrating 7th Anniversary of the Crimean status referendum and its reunification with Russia

By seinfeld - updated: 1 week, 2 days ago - 47 messages

I'm American, and I salute Putin's decision to save Crimea from a neo-fascist Ukrainian government. Zelensky is a nasty little DICKtator who's slowly turning Ukraine into a US colony. Poor people of Donbass though. I give it 2-3 more years before Donetsk and Luhansk regions join Russia.

It was a 100% legal referendum, despite what the warmongering reptilian Western governments want you to believe. Crimean people have spoken. Deal with it!

You can call me Russian/Kremlin bot but I don't give a flying fuсk tbh. I only care about the truth.

I like how Putin always looks like he has to poop!
By superboa - posted: 1 month, 3 weeks ago

Indeed. He's got that constipated Crimean status referendum face.

Hehehe Putin's not exactly a young man. He's well into his 60's, pushing 70 soon... hence the funny face

I was trying to say something else but keyhero won't let me post the comment so that's why that I like people one is there. I was just checking to see if it'd let me post anything.

Anyone that prefaces with "I'm an American" and then follows it up with "I salute Putin" makes me lol. Regardless of the politics in the Donbass and Crimea.
By seinfeld - posted: 1 month, 3 weeks ago

Sorry for not being a member of the anti-Putin camp like you but our new president is a joke. Biden failed to accept Putin's challenge to a live debate after calling him a "killer". What a yellow-belly! :))))))

(Thanks for bumping this thread, amigo!)
By seinfeld - posted: 1 month, 3 weeks ago

Btw Putin's comeback was translated wrong on purpose. I've researched, and it should be "I'm rubber, you're glue, whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you", not "it takes one to know one".

I'm not a Biden-supporter either, amigo. I'd rather lay down and die before I support some tyrannical killer from another country, let alone the one who's leading my own. Russians, Belorussians, Ukrainians, etc. love those political strongmen. All the more power to them if they want to live in a quasi-dictatorship, but to say you willingly salute him when you presumptively don't live anywhere near eastern Europe is preposterous lol. If you fantasize about autocratic rule then move to Russia or Belarus.
By seinfeld - posted: 1 month, 3 weeks ago

>> Other acceptable translations: "who smelt it, dealt it", "the one who accuses is the accuser".

So, that's what I get for studying Russian & Russian History at UCLA and being married to a Russian lady. What's it called again? Oh yeah... CRITICAL THINKING!!! Thanks, mom and dad!

You must be coolby's cuz or smth. I respect your right to disagree with me but the quality (= lack) of your counterarguments astounds me. Nope, US and NATO allies are the real aggressors and killer machines here. When was the last time you looked at a map of Europe? Russia is surrounded by NATO allies. You guys expect Mr Putin to sit nicely and do nothing, right? Only an idiot would think so. Pentagon's original goal was to install a naval base in Crimea. Well, that plan pooped out. Crimeans got super pissed off when NATO troops landed on their turf back in 2006 (wouldn't you?). Here, educate yourself: *https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmHP51QamvM

I find it a bit rich when Biden calls Mr Putin a "killer". Don't be fooled, my friends. Biden has so much blood on his hands you'd be amazed. May I remind you that the Euromaidan crisis of 2014 (Kyiv, Ukraine) was partly blamed on the Obama's administration? Biden was VP back then. Funny fact: Do you remember that moment when Victoria Nuland (US Ambassador to Ukraine & NATO) was mingling with the Euromaidan supporters/attendees and feeding them pastries out of a plastic bag like some kind of pigeons? Yup, no US interference in the affairs of other "sovereign" European nations. Our government succeeded in electing two staunch anti-Russian puppets of Soros - Poroshenko and Zelensky. Zelensky speaks horrific Ukrainian btw. His Russian accent and dismal Ukrainian vocabulary make me lol.

Unfortunately, a Latin phrase "bellum omnium contra omnes" springs to mind ("the war of all against all"). That's what's gonna happen if two nuclear superpowers don't stop bickering. Trump was much wiser than Biden though. Trump was like: "Look at what we did. We [US] are not that innocent. We also have blood on our hands". #Trump2024 (or sooner?)

I'm glad that more Americans are finally waking up and starting to see through our US mainstream propaganda machine. Perhaps, there's still hope. I just find it bizarre when our government tells Brazil not to buy Sputnik V vaccine. So evil!

I found it ironic when Antony Blinken tried to lecture Chinese diplomats on human rights and democratic principles. We have so many problems in our own backyard ffs: Covid, racism, sеx trafficking, unaccompanied immigrant children, illegal immigration, teen pregnancy, unacceptable minimum wages, LGBTQi+ issues, green energy issues etc etc

I've been to Russia many times. I <3 St Petersburg and Kazan! Their way of life actually seems too liberal to me tbh.

Ffs, I got a ticket for jaywalking when I returned to States. I swear there was zero traffic. Fuсking jaywalking! Can you believe that? smh

You speak on my name yet it's apparent you drastically misunderstood the points I was making in my original comments. I stopped talking to you because of it. Don't bring up my name again, buddy.
By seinfeld - posted: 1 month, 2 weeks ago

But you're still talking to me lol. I too should've stopped talking to you after you misunderstood the points I was trying to make in my original post for this thread but, unlike you, I respect people who disagree with me. You resorted to a strawman argument, bud. Why did you start talking about smth completely unrelated to Crimea and its status referendum?? Your emotional personal attacks (ad hominem) against Putin are of little interest to me.

You're a fool for thinking that other major players such as US/China/India/UK/Germany are NOT quasi-dictatorships/police states. US is a 99.99% oligarchy. I think Russia might have taken a page or two from our book after the constitutional dissolution (not collapse!) of the Soviet Union. Trump was an oligarch in the traditional sense, and (oh boy!) he definitely fit that bill. So, I find it rich when people say that Russia is a (quasi-)dictatorship. We should take a very close look in the mirror. Otherwise, we sound like total hypocrites. We naively believe that we won the Cold War. But why is it still going then?

Look, Russia/China/India/two Koreas are some of the most divided nations in the world right now. In the eyes of US/EU politicians, West Germany didn't annex East Germany, and US most certainly didn't annex the Kingdom of Hawaii (see below). They all "reunited". And ofc Israel didn't annex Golan Heights... sure, sure. That's different, but God forbid when 1.5 million ethnic Russians (Crimeans) ask Moscow to save them from a post-Euromaidan Ukrainian junta. People have spoken. I just hate double standards. Don't you?

Obviously, you guys know nothing about Crimea and its history. I rest my case.

Enjoy your miserable post-Covid lives.

I am slowly opening up to the idea of National Divorce. Just seems like whenever you have someone leading a large power like the U.S or Russia they just get far to corrupted. Maybe smaller nation-states is where the true freedom is... Except for like.. all of the Middle East...

I only responded because you brought up my name.

> I too should've stopped talking to you after you misunderstood the points I was trying to make in my original post for this thread but

I didn't misunderstand, I pointed out that anyone who "salutes" Putin yet presumably doesn't live in Russia makes me lol. If it is true that you do partially live in Russia, then it makes me lol even more.

> You're a fool for thinking that other major players such as US/China/India/UK/Germany are NOT quasi-dictatorships/police states.

I never said they weren't, brother. The reason I said you misunderstood my point is that I never at any point said that Western Government is in any way, shape, or form more "righteous" than Russia. You wrongly assumed that. I am aware of the current state of world politics, trust me. I haven't really personally attacked you, or personally attacked Putin, anywhere near as much as you have attempted to personally attack me or whoever else was commenting under this post. It's funny. It's evident by your mannerisms and the statistics on your account you're only here to produce a political commentary on a website for Keyboard Skills, and you're God awful at it.

In truth, I don't find myself saluting any Government, which is the basis of my statement. How can you, someone who seems to be so aware of the carnage of the world, salute an autocrat? It is true people are spoonfed misconceptions about world history, that you and I can presumably agree on, so this entire thread here just goes to baffle me even more.

> Look, Russia/China/India/two Koreas are some of the most divided nations in the world right now. In the eyes of US/EU politicians, West Germany didn't annex East Germany, and US most certainly didn't annex the Kingdom of Hawaii (see below). They all "reunited". And ofc Israel didn't annex Golan Heights... sure, sure.

I never said any of this, nor do I believe any of this.

> That's different, but God forbid when 1.5 million ethnic Russians (Crimeans) ask Moscow to save them from a post-Euromaidan Ukrainian junta. People have spoken. I just hate double standards. Don't you?

I doubt the legitimacy of the referendum that was held in Crimea. The referendum was held after Russia had already done the majority of annexing Crimea, and the outcome was in the 96th percentile? I find that strangely high, considering Ethnic Russians, while sure making up a majority of Crimea, do not make up that large of a majority (of course this not being the only reason I doubt the veracity of the referendum). Russia knows how to manipulate, I'm not surprised if manipulation occurred here. If Crimeans as a whole, not just Russian Crimeans, voted democratically to join the Russian Federation, then I wouldn't have a problem. The circumstances of the Annexation and subsequent referendum are interesting, to say the least

I implore you to refrain from making childish political assumptions about people in the future! And no, I am not Indian, nice try though.

That's true, but I'd imagine a big part of it is being unable to identify the seeds of that corruption before it's too late. Maybe if governments were smaller it'd be easier to spot.

I have done this exact thing with Seinfeld before. What you say is reasonable and refreshing to see. He's never told me he studied HISTORY at UCLA before. Truly bizarre. (Nice reference to South American colonialism earlier, Seinfeld).

Him and I have had a ton of conversations where he brings up a point, I disagree with it and ask him to entertain my disagreement and address it, and he responds instead with personal attacks and tangentially related arguments and assumptions about my worldview. He usually assumes all others have a hivemind [US = best] mentality with most viewpoints. If you point out an issue with Russia he says "yes but the US did x, so it's not that bad". Time and again.

I think you are too sympathetic towards the lowest common denominator for political rule, which is a strongman politician like Putin. He does not have the interest of people in mind; he has power and wealth in mind. This is plainly obvious.

It may make Russia seem more prosperous on the world stage to have an aggressive, "strong" leader but there are reasons why Russia is considered a developing nation, and they're not independent from the focus of wealth and power in Russia's oligarchy. The country would likely benefit from a more democratic arrangement of power.

Thanks to my Russian wifey I now have dual citizenship but that doesn't make my arguments any less valid. In fact, it's incredibly condescending, elitist, and somewhat fascist to dismiss your opponent's points based on his/her socio-economic background, i.e. resorting to 'ad hominem'.

When I talk to you guys about Russian history and politics, I feel like a brother who's trying to teach suburban white kids how to rap. I'm just wasting my words on you. Your mind is pretty much set in stone.

Despite all those unfair sanctions placed on them, Russia remains a bogeyman to their corrupt enemies. SAD!

Your definition of a developed nation is esoteric and not accepted by... anyone but yourself. Whichever country appears on a visa list does not speak to the economic prosperity of a country as much as... actual measures of economic prosperity. I think the consensus amongst people that actually look at country development is that Russia is DEVELOPING.

"Russia is not currently classified as a developed country, though it once reigned alongside the United States as a world superpower. The country's economy fell apart with the 1991 implosion of the Soviet Union. Poverty is widespread, living standards are low and, typical of a non-developed country, the exportation of natural resources fuels much of Russia's economy.

Russia is borderline at best on most developed-country metrics. the country's per capita GDP is $24,451. Its infant mortality rate is eight per 1,000, while life expectancy is an unimpressive 71 years. Its HDI is 0.79 and, when adjusted for inequality, drops to 0.71.

Russia's economy lacks diversity, with natural resources driving much of it. Shockingly for a nation that led the space race for a time in the mid-20th century, little to no technological innovation has come out of Russia in the 21st century. Russia, as of 2015, is clearly not a developed country."

Classic cockby. You offer him a truce, he continues ranting on and barking like a rabid dog he is.

Where did you find those cray figures? From the '90s? *SMH* Look, I work very closely with folks from Russia, and you're just being ridiculous right now. By your logic, US is a developing country too, since our [US] income inequality is slightly higher actually. We've been over this - stop flogging a dead horse. Dude, there are so many not-so-tangible factors that go into determining country's status on the world stage. Too bad you didn't know about that J-1 rule; ignorance is no excuse. Most sane people would agree with me that it's a pretty darn good way of figuring out which countries can be classified as underdeveloped / 'underskilled'.

Sanctions have been largely ineffective against Russia. Surprise-surprise, right? Moscow is no Tehran. Russia is a planet (area-wise) - on par with Pluto - masquerading as a country, remember? Granted, natural resources once played important role in the Russian economy, but you're trying to make it sound like it's a country's weakness whereas it's actually country's strength and major asset. Last time I checked, natural resources are one of the four factors of production, which are necessary for the economy to operate. The other three are capital, entrepreneurship, and labor. Russia has pivoted since the '90s. I suppose Putin should give Barack and Donny their well-deserved honorary Russian citizenships. Thanks to Obama, Russia now has Crimea. Thanks to Donny, Russia has a much stronger military sector. Thanks to JB, Russia will have... Donbass and the rest of Novorossiya?? Currently, Russia is focusing more on vaccine development (e.g. Sputnik-V), IT, services, space technology, climate issues, Arctic exploration, hypersonic weapons & drones, and numerous socio-demographic projects. Most importantly, Russia is saving Donbass from neo-fascist clowns like Volodymyr Zelensky. Never underestimate your enemy/adversary, amigo! Naturally, US govt & NATO feel threatened. Anti-Russian sanctions are actually anti-EU. EU is America's bitсh.

Many Western governments still believe that Siberian resources belong to the global community. US economy is a financial bubble. You of all people should know that. Millions of Americans are struggling right now. High powerball sales kinda prove that. People are desperate to get out of poverty and misery.

Putin's recent Kipling references are simply epic and 100% true! I lol'ed so hard. US govt is indeed an aging Sher Khan (= collective J Biden). UK, Czech Republic, Baltic states, Germany, and most EU vassal states are jackals who have no choice but to side with that old coot to survive. Many Western leaders also felt super threatened after dat epic Putin's Munich Speech (2007) *https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Munich_speech_of_Vladimir_Putin ... Déjà vu, right?

Jen Psaki looked so pathetic for trying to brazen out by saying that "we [Congress] have thick skin" lol
