Here I touch-type on average at a little over 70wpm. (highest on 10fastfingers: 95wpm)
I started from hunt and peck at 25wpm about 4 years ago. (I'm 27yo)

The ones that found the Holy Grail seems to do at least one of the following things :
- chat with friends
- play computer games
- play piano
- work as a secretary/paralegal

If you don't do any of the above, you'll need to constantly exercise just to to keep your speed.

The fastest way to hit 100wpm is to become addicted of something like DOTA.

Good luck with your new vice! :D

another tip besides the ones you already got is to dip your fingers in hot water before you start typing. As a pianoplayer this is very useful, because if your fingers are hot they are less stiff ^^.

Ok, so you want to improve your typing, if I were you I would just keep typing and typing, and try to look up quotes that have all or most of the keys in the sentence.

@asif812

Learn touch-typing , you'll be improving to 35wpm in maximum 2 months.

(Other people may go to 35wpm faster, but I took in consideration that your fingers currently have no dexterity)

Practice a little bit each day, and you will get really fast at typing. I used to type around 40WPM and now I type around 95WPM, and sometimes over 100WPM.

Like anything, if you want to get better at this skill you just have to practice it a little bit each day.

Just keep typing. I recommend typing with quotes that have a lit of words. Also, memorize a few words ahead of your typing so that you can continuously type instead of stopping to look at words.

Try out the tutorials. Don't rush in learning. Practice typing everyday. Memorize the keys first and try not to look at the keyboard as much. Take it slow and stead and maintain good posture. Hope this helps

I find that the best way to just improve your typing is just typing the alphabet over and over again and restart any time you mess up. Make sure in this process that you do not look at your fingers. I type at a constant 90-100 WPM, and about 4 months ago I was about 70 WPM, but that was with a lot of finger exercises from playing things like piano and being in chat heavy games, a lot of it is just how fast you can react, and for some people it will be much harder to get to high typing speeds, but I think you have potential to get to 90 WPM with touch typing and some constant training. Sometimes I will still go back to the basics whenever I find myself slowing down, but you may not have enough time for that. I found (at least for myself) that the alphabet method is a great way to learn touch typing. Hopefully that helps!

Try playing virtual piano or even real piano... It helps out to get some more speed.

I (being the kid I am) play a game called ROBLOX. The game has a virtual piano that has its many benefits.
- It helps to increase memory of the keyboard
- It can sound pretty nice
- It will help to build speed
- And its fun!

If you need notes just look it up on YT or make your own.
You get used to it.

Hope this helps! ;)

Sorry bud, I feel for you. These kids giving you advice are like 40wpm themselves. I recommend you not look for advice on these forums, as these guys cannot act as sufficient advice. They are slower than what you are trying to improve from.

There's no fast way, it just comes with time. Everyday, practice for about 10-15 minutes. As you get to type more, you get more used to where the keys are and you type without thinking. A tip would be to listen to music while you type. Though it may seem like it can distract you, it actually takes your mind off typing, allowing yourself to get comfortable with the keyboard naturally. It took years for me succeed to get over 100 wpm, but it's always possible.

I'm at the same fluency as you. I know where my keys are and I can hit them pretty accurately, but I tend to make lots of mistakes. I found that practicing on the instant death is very helpful; it allows me to slow down and be vigilant. I'm noticing that when I type at a calm speed with no mistakes I'm still getting 60 WPM. My instant death scores are pretty low as I am still making a lot of mistakes.

Besides all the great advice given by others - here's couple things I would add. Make sure you've mastered QWERTY proper way. I remember when I was first learning to type at high school about 7-8 years ago, I learned most of the keyboard with correct fingers having its set of keys. But a few things didn't master well enough. And that kept me from getting better and improving to faster speed without errors. Hardest thing was right side where pinky has to do punctuation such as ; . ? ' and letter P, (try typing word "people" a number of times, fast).

Another thing I would note is having a right keyboard. As far as I know great typers mostly use ergonomic keyboards with curved layout. And that is what I use. It enforces you to have your fingers only be able to reach the areas designed for them. That's all. Good luck.

I have no idea.

Stop looking at your keyboard when you type.
If you memorize all the keys and can look at the quotes when you type it makes things go much faster (including fixing mistakes)
