How to increase accuracy?

By brokenkeyboard - updated: 5 years, 2 months ago - 4 messages

I've been typing for a while now, and am able to hit over 90 wpm. I have seen myself reach much higher speeds though, as high as 140 wpm - only to have a mistake bring my wpm back down to good old 90. Recently, I have been practicing on this website with the instant-death typing practice. I'm looking for ways in which I can practice to increase my accuracy. Thanks!

Simply take your time, don't try to type at your limit, keep typing slow, as accurate as you can. Figure out words like "my" which could be awkward, inaccurate, and slow to type with just using your index finger for m and y. Try typing words by using 1 finger for each letter if possible, that way is much more faster and accurate because your fingers are already on the letters that need to be pressed so they're not flying around like crazy, missing letters, and potentially screwing your speed and accuracy. Instant death is a great way to practice btw.

Never mind guys....apparently I was too lazy to search this site myself. Duh. I have found the option for "instant death". Thanks anyways though

Honestly, it's all about time and practice. Type out words that you commonly see in quotes on the site in a Word document or Google doc, and keep typing it out. I'd say type out the word around 25 times straight without messing it up, and I think that would do the trick. It's all about repetition, time, and practice.
