I am stuck at 65 after 1700 races.

I am typing for a year and my speed is stuck at 65 WPM. When the text is easy I can reach 70-75 at max. I can touch type but don't know why my speed is not increasing.

You shouldn't really do any of those typing races. Don't compete with others, compete with yourself. I have consistent 80 wpm right now and fluctuates 78-86 wpm. Here in keyhero, I type every word with a certain pace. You have to pace yourself but sometimes your pace can be too fast that you type the letters in the wrong order specially if they're from both hands or different fingers. Your keyboard is also a big contributor to settling yourself. I type on a mechanical keyboard with a loud clack to them because I'm used to it but the other day I typed on a laptop keyboard and I typed worse. Not that worse since it was still 75 wpm but still it affected my typing. Also, you should stretch your fingers a lot or keep it warm since it aids response time. Sometimes I would type when I just woke up and it's really cold and I type way worse like 60s.

Don't do typing races to improve speed! Though it can be fun to compete with others, I find that the pressure and stress from competing in them always make me do worse. I suggest improving typing speed through practice sites like Keyhero! That way you can type at your own pace and focus more on being a better typer. Personally, I find that the analytics they provide after every quote is a great motivator for me to do better. Also getting used to inputting keys you don't touch very often (the number row, punctuation, etc.) may also help!

Unlike other people says, use whatever you like as long as it has correct sentence structure. Personally i find typeracer forces me to not restart whenever I mess up making the data more accurate, and also has more difficult quotes possibly being a better practice.
I suggest not stressing about getting faster, and practice in a casual mindset more. Also typeracer has an extremely active discord community which may give you more feedback.

One tip I have for you is to type out each word with one fluid motion. Almost like speaking. Enunciating each word with your fingers. I watched one of your replays on typeracer, and it seems like you're still typing letter by letter. And if you want to keep racing, don't waste time in-between words. Jam the space bar and move on with the sentence!

I think the most important thing is for you to touch type. Personally, when I was comfortable with that I started **going for accuracy only** and not worrying about speed, because **speed is just muscle memory while accuracy is something conscious that needs to be fixed**. What I did is whenever I mess up here, I just press escape to jump to the next quote. This forces me to type accurately, and over time my speed has increased slowly. It takes some willpower but has worked really well for me, so I would totally recommend it!
