Leader board is full of bots

Has anyone else noticed that the top roughly 600 people all have 200 wpm averages with 1 game? most of them also have similar names and tags with 'gel' popping up a lot in the names. I mean it's not a huge deal or anything, it's just annoying not knowing who are actually the top typers of the site, or just finding yourself on the leader board.

Yeah, I think I heard somewhere that it's one guy who made a bunch of accounts so he could own the scoreboard, or he made bots to do that same thing. It's super annoying and I think it'd be a good idea to make the scoreboard only available for people with more than maybe 100 tests. It's not SUPER hard to get that many done, and it would give more people the chance to get up to the top places.
That's just my two-cents, though.

Two cents*, do you mean?

Yes, I agree something must be done about that. All the accounts containing variations of the 'gelbut', 'but', or a scramble of those letters should be deleted.

The amount of games doesn't matter there is a person with like 65,000 botted games. Just make it so it looks for suspicious typing patterns like no slow downs or consistent wpm etc

Yeah, would be nice if they could clean up the leaderboard... would be nice to know where we actually stand

This website is too buggy to take it seriously anyway! have a great day!

Wouldn't a bot be able to fake 100 tests as well?
By coolby - posted: 4 years, 1 month ago
Yes I am sure that is a tiny obstacle. People will always manipulate internet leaderboards!

The easiest way to have an idea of your real position on the Leaderboard is to subtract 726 (that's the approximated amount of accounts with 200 WPM with only one game) of your current rank number.

Actually 682 :)

I filtered to 100 games or more.... in which case i'd be 25th.... then there are 7 obvious bots above me.... so i'll take claim to the 18th spot =) (of those that have played 100+)

Yeah, keep telling yourself that =) one day you'll convince others, too
Have a good one!

You are clearly a phenomenal (easily top 99.5th percentile of people who use computers regularly) typist. Tons of bot accounts on this site, so you'll never know your true ranking. It is no big deal. No one knows Seinfeld/Gelbut's actual typing speed.

Agreed. Some authentication that makes it harder for a bot to do by itself maybe.

Maybe some combination of obstacles. We should not strive to make it impossible but harder for the bot programmer to make the bots.

Sure.
Gelbut- you have the top ~750 spots. What would make it more difficult for you?

Nothing will make it more difficult for Alex G.

In that case I just hope he (or maybe Alex was born male and now identifies as a female?) rules over us with benevolence. I don't want a durak for an overlord.

"durak"... hmmm "ad hominem" much? :)
Then what are you still doing on this site? Sense of humor: it's free y'know. Lighten up :)

It was a joke. I just wanted to incorporate Durak into things at some point because I love that game
