keyhero Is flooded with ads. Which is annoying when typing with things popping out and blocking your screen. Creators of this site, Pls lessen the Amount of Ads in this site. How do you feel about it?

Ugh, yes! I'd even gladly pay a monthly subscription just to get rid of these ads! So annoying.

I mean... you can also just use an adblock. It's not that hard to install and you can get rid of all ads

That's the extension for AdBlockPlus. I don't see any ads on the site.

Definitely noticing more than usual. But it's still just a handful of banner ads on every page. I can see the annoyance but doesn't bother me that bad.

Feel terrible. Wanna escape. It is like a torture. Can't understand. are they trying to force me to leave voluntarily and forever ?

I'm relatively fine with them other than the one that takes up the center of the screen. Luckily that is just once per visit. Otherwise, I just wish they were less animated. It would be great if the one on the bottom would auto hide after a certain amount of time.

We use Google Ads for the site and recently switched to its "auto ads" feature that automatically chooses how, where, and what ads to display. I agree that it's a bit overwhelming and needs to be toned down. I'll look into that.

As for ad blockers...I don't personally use them as I know first hand that ads support the work of developers and businesses creating free or inexpensive resources. They are the main funding method of many small startups and tinkerers creating cool stuff, often for very little financial incentive. Is it your civic duty to not block ads? Not sure I'd go that far, but it's certainly a nice way to "pay back" the ad-sponsored sites you use, which also encourages greater investment into free stuff. As someone who grew up very poor, it really does pain me to think of the Internet becoming a place where every cool resource costs money, simply because most people have installed ad blockers.

I appreciate the offer to purchase an ad-free membership. If there is demand for this or the percentage of ad block usage gets too high, it's definitely something we could do. But my experience has been that even at about $2/mo, there's very few people willing to spend money to see fewer ads.

Sir, just slap a random but cool badge right next to subscriber's name, and the site's revenue will go up crazy brrr just like magic.
Also, I am a pro-ad, since no advertisers can persuade me to buy stuffs from them because I'm a literal broke man. I am very okay with ads, pop ups are often annoying tho.

It's a chicken-egg problem. You need ads to keep the site running or you need to charge a fee. Anyone that develops a site would love to have it ad-free, BTW, even the people working on the site hate them. It's just there is no viable business model for it. 1% of anyone will pay the fee... That's not enough to pay the bills and make a profit, so everyone is running ads. There are other ways to make money too like selling merch (depending on the nature of the site), but for the most part that isn't a decent revenue stream either. The best ways to make money are either sponsors or ads, and it's been that way for a decade... Nothing really gonna change it.

Oddly enough I never see adds, only the one-off ones. I don’t use iOS, and have not had a ad-blocker for a long while.

I've considered offering an ad-free membership with other premium options like ability to drop lowest score once per month, ability to amplify or de-amplify specific quotes, ability to erase someone else's score ;), etc. But I believe only about 1/1000 visitors will pay to go ad free.
Are there features that you would like to see in a premium product? What are they? What would you consider a reasonable amount to pay monthly?

And, yes, I do know that ads are annoying, but everyone here benefits from the revenue. It's why we will likely start blocking users who run Ad block (sorry). FWIW, the revenue is quite modest but it does pay to have the site actively developed (by a developer who I pay) and managed (by yours truly).
If there is something of value that could be offered that would make you happy to pay, DM me or post here. If this website brought in 2X the revenue, we could invest in better bot detection, automated rating of quotes, personalization features, and much more.
