Belgian here, went from AZERTY (Belgium's standard layout) to QWERTY and it took me about one week to get used to it.

Which would you say is better?

Depending on your language. AZERTY is designed for French, if you type English most of the time, QWERTY is more suitable. I switched to QWERTY because it's a lot easier for programming, and I mostly type English online.

Uhhhhhh... what?

I switched from QWERTY to Workman 1-2 months ago and it took me 2-3 weeks to get to around 60 WPM. Was it worth it? For one thing I think Workman is a lot more comfortable as my previous QWERTY speed was around 70 WPM and my fingers felt like they were flailing all over the keyboard at that speed. But it is really inconvenient to go on other keyboards as I can't type even 20 WPM on them. Currently I don't have to use other keyboards much but I imagine this would be a problem for most people.

How long did it take to figure out the site? Seconds.

How long did it take to get my speed up? Perhaps three or four quotes; My typing speed was about 80 wpm and learned that if I relaxed and typed slower, I'd make fewer mistakes and thereby retain an higher average.

My average typing speed now oscillates between 85 and 90. My individual typing tests go from 64 to 128.

At the moment i'd like to type at 128 wpm with 100% accuracy. I've given myself three months to achieve this goal.

I personally use Dvorak. Before I made the jump from Qwerty to Dvorak my Qwerty was around the low 90s. I wasn't really good. I made the jump to Dvorak so I could defeat some of my friends who already hit the 100s. After the first month of just muscle memory, I eventually got up to the 60s. I stayed there for a month and jumped to the 90s. Right now my average is 116. It has taken me 4000 games and a year to get this far. I am not good by any measure of the word, but I think if you are consistent and always use dvorak then you should be able to transition and get to the 40s within a month.
