this is not your journal!

Am I the only one that is getting irritated by all the super sappy, and often overly personal "quotes" that some people are posting on this site? I am on this site to increase my typing speed...not to listen to a total stranger pour their heart out about some lost love or depression. For crying out loud....that's stuff you're supposed to share with friends or family....or, write it in your journal! But don't share it here...

This post reminds me of when I was a child on the first day of the second grade. All the other kids had been at school with each other since Kindergarten, I was the odd man out. Damn, I can't tell if it was days or weeks or months, but I didn't make a single friend for it felt like eternity. Then, out of the corner of my eye I saw someone had dropped their pencil. I swooped in to pick it up, and when I handed it to them they gave me a look of pure disgust. They snatch the pencil away and said, "I don't need a stupid pencil, my WPM is over 75 moron.". Ever since then I've been testing myself to beat that score. Hoping, desperately hoping that I'll be accepted if I get faster. So I've been on this site training, but I can't get past 50 WPM. Currently I've done nearly 10,000 tests, but I still have problems making friends.

weesin, will you be my friend?

Your attempt at being witty seriously fell flat

You DARE to address Weesin, a typist of over 100 WPM ?!?! Your insolence and snide remarks will not be tolerated here. You would be wise to show proper deference for a man who could easily type circles around you.

I'm not quite sure why people are getting catty here....have you nothing better to do? The point of my post was simply to express annoyance with being forced to listen to the personal problems of total strangers...and to see if anyone else felt the same way. Maybe people would be able to increase their typing speeds faster if they used their time to practice their typing rather than being rude and catty

Weesin, no one is "forcing" you to read these quotes you are referring to. You have to ability to stop using this site... or hit escape and skip to the next one... or just type and not give a care! Seriously!
Geez, ppl think they're so privileged and entitled these days.

Weesin, you seem awful callous for a Canadian. People will journal wherever they feel like it, why not hit that escape button and move on? Don't sweat the small stuff ;)

It is not "callous" to not want to hear of the private matters of total strangers. All too often I find that when people post personal "quotes", they contain multiple errors in grammar, spelling and/or punctuation which will trip up even the most experienced typer.

If people insist on airing their dirty laundry or pouring their hearts out to strangers who don't care, the least they can do is ensure that their drivel is free of errors.

I agree - it has irritated me as long as I have been using the site. Fortunately, most of the worst ones get voted out of rotation fairly quickly.
