After you get the fundamentals down, you should find the balance between speed typing and taking your time to get the best speed possible. In other words, when you feel you're about to make a mistake, go ahead and do the next 2-5 words slowly and take a relaxing breath, then when you feel comfortable, start pushing for speed again.
