My tip to improve your typing speed is to...
Don't rush, don't stress it just enjoy the typing, do as little as 5 minutes or 10 minutes daily practice, then gradually shift as you see your progress, right now I practice 20 minute can't say everyday but I don't leave it more than 2 days.

What really helped me improve my typing speed is...
Being focused while typing, taking notes of bad cases I found my right hand was slow than my left, my left could type faster than right so alphabets on left appeared first. Currently training my right hand to be at same pace.
