Isaac Asimov

This quote fue agregado por sailor
I don't believe in an afterlife, so I don't have to spend my whole life fearing hell, or fearing heaven even more. For whatever the tortures of hell, I think the boredom of heaven would be even worse.

However much I agree with Isaac Asimov on the first half of this quote, I must disagree with him on the second half. This idea that heaven would be boring is a rather well-known one. Yet this is brought about by the train of thought of a nonbeliever that is not well-versed in Catholic dogma / teachings. If this god created everything then he too must have created boredom. What also follows is that he had to create evil and the possibility for evil and our tendency towards evil. For if the devil created it it was still this god's fault, being an all-knowing deity that created the devil.

However the point is that he could easily make an eternity infinitely more interesting than our stay on earth if it is understood that he is all-powerful. This is a stupid thing to say, really, if you understand theology.
