Lottery of Life - Prof. Richard Dawkins

This quote fue agregado por vladbogdanov
We are going to die, and that makes us the lucky ones. Most people are never going to die because they are never going to be born. The potential people who could have been here in my place but who will in fact never see the light of day outnumber the sand grains of Arabia. In the teeth of these stupefying odds it is us that are here. Having won the lottery of birth against all odds, how dare we whine at our inevitable return to that prior state from which the vast majority have never stirred?

I don't get it... is Dawkins saying that there is a sort of immense storage tank of souls waiting to be enfleshed? Or is he saying that the possibility of a person is ontologically a person? He might be a fine biologist, but he is certainly out of his depth as a philosopher.

Dick Dawkins is a know-nothing fool.

Another shallow insight by the dull and tedious mind of Richard Dawkins.
