Text: It was just Dad and I, January 1963, in Battlefield, Nevada. It was colder than, well, you know. Working, moving U-Hauls from service stations to railheads. Sleeping in hotels from Reno to Ely that had been open since the 1800's. But not that night, no sir, "No, sorry, no vacancies. We're full of hunters!". So, Dad stacked U-haul blankets a foot high on the floor of a 6' x 8' trailer, and we crawled under about six more inches of 'em! Pretty exciting for a 9 year old kid, I'll tell you!
