It's better not to have high expectations of others. The more you expect from people, the more they tend to disappoint you. So, when you expect less you won't get hurt easily. You will be able to shrug your shoulders, and walk away. And if someone actually does something good, you will be pleasantly surprised; as you never expected it in the first place!!
