- Mamertazo
Aunque el MNR ganó las elecciones de 1951, el gobierno de la Rosca (liderado por Urriolagoitia) no permitió que accedieran al poder. El presidente renunció al cargo y entregó el gobierno a los militares (General Hugo Ballivián Rojas) en el famosísimo "Mamertazo." El gobierno militar del General Hugo Ballivián fue derrocado por la Revolución Nacional del 9 de abril de 1952, considerada el hecho más importante en la historia de Bolivia desde su fundación.
