"Stamina, that is what so many ponies lack! Good to look at, some of them, keen to jump, but show them the open country and where are they?" At that moment, before he could answer his own question, poor Dumpling collapsed in a heap and lay there until morning. Completely exhausted, he stayed in the pony lines for the next three days, having his breakfast in bed and telling all visitors, in a feeble voice, that his life was drawing peacefully to a close.
