It's best to have a rhythm when you type. Don't try and get ahead of yourself. Just concentrate on accuracy and steady pace.

What really helped me improve my typing speed is keeping the wrist stable and placed over home row. Don't move the wrist, move the fingers.

My tip to improve your typing speed is to keep your fingers as close to home row as you can and to also not raise your hands too high on the keyboard. Also, for your wrists, keep them steady and don't try and twist them too much when reaching for certain keys p,q,t,y,b.
