The Gay Science - Nietzsche

This quote was added by shaktimaan
God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. Yet his shadow still looms. How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives: who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us?

Nietzshe believed that we have lost a need for a god. I think that we are working towards that end goal, but that we have obviously not lost a need for a god. Although in the most developed democracies (excluding America) religion and violence are both equally in the decline, there are still many countries struggling to acquire the same state of being. It is the most terrorized countries that remain to cling to the idea of a god. Until we accomplish world peace god will not die.
