History of Rock chalk Jayhawk KU - E.H.S. Bailey

This quote was added by user55306
The university's science club first adopted the chant in 1886, when chemistry professor E. Bailey and his colleagues were returning by train to Lawrence after a conference. During their travel, they discussed a need of a rousing yell. They came up with "Rah, Rah, Jay-hawk, Go KU," repeated three times.
