Accuracy Measurement

Why does this site use the weirdest accuracy measurement. You get docked for missing every letter after an incorrect letter even if the letters that follow are correct. Ex. you type "rhanks" instead of "thanks" and get marked down for all three letters even though the rest of the word was correct. Other sites won't mark you down if the letters that follow are correct. I would like to know what you guys think, because I have mixed feelings on this. On the one hand it makes you focus even more on accuracy, but on the other, there is no way to catch a mistake before you get to the next letter. I type 80wpm which is 400 characters per minute. Meaning I type 6.67 characters per second, leaving an average delay of .15 seconds between each character I type. Coincidentally, this is the around the fastest a human's brain can process something, so there would be no way to fix a mistake before going to the next letter at my average speed. I hope my math makes sense and doesn't have any mistakes.

I can only guess but I think that a wrong word means all the letters are wrong. If you're trying to type "thanks" and accidentally type "rhanks", then, well, yes you got the wrong letter, but now it's an entirely different word which means all the letters are wrong.
The benefit from this is that it is very punishing to make a mistake. Which isn't a bad thing, necessarily. It makes you have to willingly sacrifice speed for better accuracy. This means you have to focus more tightly on the fundamentals as your speed gets higher.... but I only use this site so I could be wrong.

I quite like the way it is done on this site. You are forced to correct your mistakes and don't let any bad habits pass. As for me, even if I get to 90-100 WPM, I can still feel if I make a mistake and redo it. Also keep in mind, that you can redo the full word with strg/cmd + delete. I do think it's better like this since with actual typing, you will have the same problems.
