Third party voters did not cost your party the election. They voted for their candidate because that's the candidate they support. They don't support your candidate, so they didn't vote for him. The fact that you feel so entitled to their votes is a big part of the problem.

Homosexuality was in the DSM up until the 1970s, because people were disgusted by it, and therefore if it disgusted people then it was crazy. They never had any empirical evidence as to why it should be included in the first place; nor did they discover any new evidence as to why the status of homosexuality should be changed from pathological to being within the spectrum of normal. And it's the same with people not liking life.

In a sense, depression is something everyone has, but most people are asymptomatic. It's a feature that doesn't get activated for everyone, but any brain can go into depression mode under certain circumstances. In some individuals, there is a glitch in which this mode cannot be deactivated without external modifications. We call this clinical depression.

No one could ever make all those dreams come true. Just when you think there's a whole lot of blood on your clothesline, and there's a whole lot of pain on your sides, I don't know where your life fits in.

We both know of living people who are just evil. But take a walk through a cemetery, and you'll see that everyone who ever died was a wonderful person. Gravestones tell of loving mothers, esteemed community members, and dearest friends. The obvious conclusion is that people who are immoral are also immortal.

Brevity is the soul of wit. However, what's a soul without a body? A ghost. Remember, a short speech must also be a sweet one, or else it's a bad one.

Whether an animal is good or bad depends on whether its number of limbs is divisible by the number four. Sheep are good. Spiders are good. Birds are good. Ladybugs are bad.

Our entire mental health system is based on the belief that the worst case scenario is for the patient to commit suicide. That is wrong. The worst case scenario is when in an effort to prevent a suicide, we cause even more suffering than the torture that made the person want to end their life in the first place.

It's funny how regular food is allowed to remain boring, but candy is hyped up with exciting colors, shapes and wrappers. One would think that children don't naturally want to eat sugar.

American culture in particular has instilled in us the bizarre notion that to ask for help amounts to an admission of failure. But some of the most powerful, successful, admired people in the world seem, to me, to have something in common: they ask constantly, creatively, compassionately, and gracefully.

In both the art and the business worlds, the difference between the amateurs and the professionals is simple: the professionals know they're winging it; the amateurs pretend they're not.

The Fraud Police are the imaginary, terrifying force of 'real' grown-ups who you believe - at some subconscious level - are going to come knocking on your door in the middle of the night, saying: We've been watching you, and we have evidence that you have NO IDEA WHAT YOU'RE DOING.

Sometimes making people uncomfortable is a necessary part of making progress. But making people uncomfortable is not in itself a good thing. It's the difference between a dentist who drills teeth before filling cavities and one who does it just for fun.

 - Anticonversationalists
For some reason, the Internet has a growing number of anticonversationalists. They just pop up out of nowhere to say that they don't find a discussion worthwhile or interesting, implying that therefore, nobody else is allowed to.

If you're arguing with a stranger on the internet, and that stranger is doubling down on a really stupid take, they're probably depressed. Any hill is worth dying on when you don't want to live.

Sarah Brand is definitely not like other singers. But does that make her music bad? It is not off key. There never was a key. Perhaps one day the people who call her singing off key will look like the people who said Kandinsky's art doesn't look like anything.

Some of us do our best learning in school. Others do their best learning while procrastinating. I am learning to touch type, learning Spanish, learning to read sheet music, and learning about random other topics on Wikipedia. I have procrastination to thank for all of it.

Real women have curves. The size of the curves and radius of curvature varies, but there are no women who are completely without curves. Real men also have curves, as do non-binary people.

I'm not like other girls. I'm not into fashion. I hate the color pink. I strongly dislike fashion magazines. Wait, no, that's the list of ways in which I am like other girls. I'm not like other girls because other girls have blood and I have circuits.

Some things are worth fighting for. Love, honor, happiness, dreams, hope; these are the things not worth fighting for, not because they are not worth having, but because fighting destroys them.
