Kaiki - Monogatari
Humans have a desire for truth. Or rather they have a desire to believe what they think they know to be truth. In other words, the actual truth comes second to that desire for truth. Be cautious of what is truth and what is a lie. In other words always doubt yourself. Or in other words, always harbour an inner devil's advocate in your heart as you read along... and I won't forget that by this point, you might have already fallen into my trap.

Brandon Sanderson - Wit
Expectation. That is the true soul of art. If you create an air of anticipation and feed it properly, you will succeed. Conversely, if you gain a reputation for being too skilled... beware. The better art will be in their heads, and if you give them an ounce less than they imagined, suddenly you have failed. A man will find a single coin in the mud and talk about it for days, but when his inheritance comes and is accounted one percent less than he expected, then he will declare himself cheated.

But what I always point out is in maths class, when people say "When am I going to use this?" They're saying that out of frustration and the reason why I say that is no one ever says that in a philosophy class. "When am I going to use this? What am I going to care whether there's life after death or whether there's, you know, some platonic cave or whatever?" No one says in PE "When am I going to put an orange ball in a net? What is that good for?" No one says that.
