Office Thoughts - Myself

This quote was added by mnshah
There is a girl that posts quotes on here about how boring her cubicle is. She describes it as insufferable and comes onto this typing site to waste time. I feel like we are soul sisters, because I do the exact same thing. Typing tests make me look like I'm busy and doing work, when I am really just wasting time.

You're simply uneducated if you feel that women haven't suffered as much at the hands of patriarchy as black Americans have suffered at the hands of white men. Educate yourself. The term 'girl' is not inoccuous - it has major societal implications and bolsters the rape culture that is prevalent in our society

FYI - I understand now what you meant by 'go off sis' - but there's the problem with slang...only people that are familiar with slang know what you're talking about. Had you just spoken normal English words instead of slang, we could have avoided my thinking you were calling me 'sis'. Clear communication is helpful!

I'm aware based on your profile that people call you a troll because all you do is bitch on other people's profiles, so I will no longer be responding, feel free to continue bitching though. No disrespect--just don't try to compare the severity of racism to something as miniscule as a girl calling a girl 'girl' on the internet. Have a good life, friend, enjoy your typing website trolling.

Regarding, "I'm not your 'sis' so don't refer to me as such." and "What does slang have to do with this?!"--the link was an explanation of the common slang phrase 'go off sis'

Regarding, "Whether I'm male or female is irrelevant to this conversation."--your own statement, "Just because we're both females does not make us sisters"

And lastly, regarding "Keep in mind people[...]take as much offense to the term 'girl' being applied to a woman as others take to the term 'ni*ger'."--the worst thing you've said. Any remotely educated individual is aware of the institutionalized racism surrounding black Americans and the roots of the N word. I'll refer you to a quote by John Mulaney, "If you’re comparing the badness of two words and you won’t even say one of them [the n-word], that’s the worse one."

Whether I'm male or female is irrelevant to this conversation. It seems like Ohio must be a very unfriendly place for educated, feminist-minded people to live. What does slang have to do with this? Absolutely nothing! Just because something is an acceptable slang term does not make it any less offensive! I'll refrain from checking out your link to Urban Dictionary as I have no interest in any crazy, made-up, nonsensical and often offensive slang terms people are coming up with these days.

Keep in mind people (at least educated or egalitarian-minded people) take as much offense to the term 'girl' being applied to a woman as others take to the term 'ni*ger'.

I didn't know you were a female and I really don't care. Maybe we come from different backgrounds, but saying 'girls' when referring to fellow women has never been offensive in Ohio. I don't know anything about you except that you spend a lot of time on this site, but maybe try looking into common modern slang and phrases, try this link! https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=go%20off%20sis lmao

my apologies - just noticed that I mistyped my comment. The first sentence should read as: The implication that your job is insufferable IS MADE when you declare.....
weesin 6 months, 1 week ago
The implication that your job is insufferable when you declare yourself to be 'soul' sisters with someone who finds their job insuffereable and does typing tests to waste time at work.

I'm baffled by your confusion as to why you shouldn't refer to a woman as a girl....perhaps you should 'waste' some of your time at work educating yourself on gender equality issues instead of typing tests. Using the term 'girl' to describe a grown woman is very offensive

And I'm not your 'sis' so don't refer to me as such. Just because we're both females does not make us sisters - it does not mean that we have a similar life experience - clearly our life experiences are quite different if you're referring to women as girls.

I would suggest that you start by reading the following article:

I never said my job was insufferable--she said her's was. I just do the tests when I don't have a task, which is often because I'm an intern. My supervisor and I collaborate with others to create development projects but we have downtime in between meetings and sessions. I don't know why you care so much whether I call her a girl or a woman but go off sis
weesin 6 months, 1 week ago
one more thing - I'm going to assume that this person you're referring to is of legal age considering she's got a job....so....you should be referring to her as a 'woman' not as a 'girl'. A girl doesn't have bills to pay because her parent(s) take care of her and therefore doesn't have a job. A woman is an adult who takes care of herself, has bills to pay and therefore does have a job
weesin 6 months, 1 week ago
why would either of you stay in jobs that you find insufferable? I know there are bills to pay, but if you spent the time that you steal from your employee doing typing tests looking for other jobs instead, you could find a job that you enjoy
