What really helped me improve my typing speed is...
Practice. Lots and lots of practice. Read one sentence ahead, and let your brain work with your fingers. If you're focusing on the word as you type it, you'll slow yourself down. Let your brain and fingers work together automatically as you read ahead. It's a hard concept to master, and I'm still working on it myself; but it definitely helps!

My fingers don't hurt. My wrists do. But I lift them from the keyboard, crack my knuckles and push my hands back as far as they'll go, as close to my forearms as possible, and hold it there until I can't stand it anymore.
