What really helped me improve my typing speed is actively trying to slow down and type with more accuracy. Slowing down, making fewer mistakes improved my accuracy and even improved my speed because I spent less time correcting mistakes. My advice would be to focus on the words, make sure to hit the right keys, and keep a steady pace.
