Certain occupational diseases cause pneumoconiosis, an abnormal lung condition. Asbestosis is caused by inhaling minute asbestos particles. Asbestos is used in insulation for buildings. Tachypnea, chest pain, and upper respiratory infections are some of the symptoms. Silicosis, another disease, is caused by inhaling silica dust. Symptoms include dyspnea, pulmonary hypertension, and a dry cough.
