To continue in my incorrigibly light hearted manner, I must tell you of a Buddhist who came to Hungary in the middle ages and tried to convert everyone to Buddhism. He was very aggressive and made a real pest of himself. He was subsequently known as the Buddha-pest.

zen habits - Connections with the People
We know how many things could be possible if we changed our surroundings. We've heard stories of the changes people have made, the businesses they've built, the weight they've lost, the lovers they've met, and the things they've experienced - just as a result of connecting with the right people.

zen habits - The Health Ritual
I drink water throughout the day and night, and it is the life stuff that runs through me. Coffee is a shared experience with my wife, and has always signaled the start of a good day (every day). Wine is our unwinding ritual, and means that the day has been good. Tea is a signal for slowness and focus that I use in the middle of the day. It's also a way for me to satisfy little hunger cravings that used to trigger unhealthy snacking.

zen habits - sleep like a baby
A good hard workout or run, bike or swim will get you nice and tired. A good yoga workout is a wonderful way to do that, as you learn mindfulness at the same time. Even if the workout is early in the day, I often go to bed with a tired body, and look forward to the rest. Don't workout right before bed though.

zen habits - a journey without goal
As things arise, you adapt, and let go of your plans and goals. You move with the flow of water, with the changing landscape. You are free to do this because you don't care where you end up. You just want to be present in your journey, be compassionate with each step, have fun each moment along the way. The destination becomes irrelevant. No destination or goal matters if they are all good. Each step along the way, then, becomes the destination, and is exactly where you should be.
