I bit my tongue and sat through his detailed and strained explanation. Not for the first time, I realized he considered me slightly slow. My silences he mistook for a lack of wit rather than a lack of any need to speak.

It's frustrating when you are typing and trying to improve, but you have to contend with American spelling, it is difficult to understand what the issue is with words such as, colour, mum, aluminium, favourite or behaviour? I struggle to understand how these changes were rationalised, it seems to be an unnecessary attack on the English language.
