Tell a story. Write a book. Change a tire. Lose a tooth. Hit a tree. Jump a fence. Start a car. Eat a snack. Open a box. Hide a secret. Steal a moment. Live a life.

Alaindelon - Earth is a proper noun.
Earth. The specific place, Earth is a proper noun. Earth. The specific place, Earth is a proper noun. Earth. The specific place, Earth is a proper noun. Earth is a proper noun, you capitalize proper nouns. Earth is a proper noun, please remember this. I'm very hopeful that this was annoying enough to sediment the fact that Earth is a proper noun.

Alaindelon - Grammar Lesson - The fraternal twins part 1
The colon can be your best friend. It is most commonly used to list items online (without the use of any special formatting). Additionally, the colon can be used when separating two INDEPENDENT clauses, meaning if you split the sentence at that point you would have two grammatically correct simple sentences. It should be noted that the colon has several other uses that should not be disregarded.

Alaindelon - Grammar Lesson - Those three dots
These three dots "..." are called an ellipsis. They are probably the most misused punctuation mark on this site. They are used when omitting a section of a quote; they are not, and I repeat NOT, for the sake of your dramatic pause. The only thing that you should be using to create pause in your sentence is a comma.

Alaindelon - Grammar Lesson - Transitions
Transitions are used to increase the flow of text. Some of the most common include: for example, however and although. They are ALWAYS followed by a comma.

Alaindelon - If I've learned anything...
It's that a decent amount of those who contribute quotes should proofread more, or at all for that matter. On a site that exists to teach people how to type more effectively; things like grammar and sentence structure should have a higher priority. For example, if you use a transition you need a comma. Proper nouns are capitalized. If you're going to list items you need a colon. I realize this is a case of grammar Nazism, but you're trying to get better at typing aren't you?

My name is Alan apparently that's not long enough of a name for the "Author" field. - I *%&$)#^ hate symbols
I hate commas, quotation marks, question marks, exclamation points, asterisks, pound signs, ampersands, tilde, accented letters, parentheses, carets, brackets and curly braces, colons, semi-colons and even apostrophes. They make typing hard.
